(James 3:17) But the wisdom from above is first (1)pure, then (2)peaceable, (3)gentle, (4)open to reason, (5)full of mercy and (6)good fruits, (7)impartial and (8)sincere.
(5) Full of Mercy
compassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an offender, an enemy, or other person in one’s power
Wisdom is full of mercy which is the opposite of judgement. Judgement is left to God, the only true judge. Wisdom must be a light designed to draw people from the darkness of this world. No person is perfect and all imperfection is equal in the eyes of a Holy God. God is the only source of good, and our best version of good is considered filthy rags in comparison. Our position on this earth is to show the mercy given to us daily to others. We are not to judge, wise counsel never judges. Wise counsel shows compassion to our sinful brethren so that the light of God can shine on the dark earth. Only condemnation comes from judgement. Without the love of God and His mercy, we are all deserving of condemnation. We are not better than anyone else. We must be merciful in our common position.
