Applications – Jesus Filtered

As technology grows so does the amount of information we a bombarded with constantly. The growth of social media and the inability to prevent the perversion of truth means that much of that information is faulty. People mistake an emotionally driven reaction or ignorant opinion as truth. It is imperative as followers of the way and the truth, Jesus, to understand we have to seek what is real. People think because they have the ability to speak that they should. They cannot understand the difference between contributing to a conversation and making noise by speaking nonsense. We are blessed with language and like all gifts it has been corrupted by human nature. The depraved mind filters information and corrupts what comes out of the mouth attached to that mind. Emotional leads instead of logic. Ignorance flourishes in groups. When people hear their ignorance reflected back to them, a lie spoken 1000 times sounds like the truth. The word ignorance is not meant to be insulting, it just means uninformed or not understanding.  Ignorance can be willful, which is more dangerous than the version that can be overcome through knowledge of truth.

All of this to say that believers must filter the information we receive through the Word of God. The Word being scripture and also the Word written on a heart submitted to Jesus. 2 Corinthians 10:5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. Not only the knowledge of God but obedience to His desire for us. Your mind and heart become a funnel they take in information that can then be purified through you. Think of a funnel with a large open end to receive, and a narrow end used to direct the flow. You are that for the world around you. Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. The Spirit of God is powerful and alive inside you. You have immense power in your ability to positively influence the world around you. Do not submit to the loudest voices around you. Submit to the still small voice of God inside you. Be an advocate for God the source of all good, truth, light, love and mercy. Speak the truth in love and do not worry over what is received. What you speak and live out is your responsibility, what is received is not. Consistency wins over volume just like truth wins over ignorance. The difference is willingness to walk the narrow path of Jesus or submit to ease and complacency. We hear this verse all the time but take what we have shared hear and read it with better understanding, with more revelation. Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
