1 Thessalonians 2:4 just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts
Greek just as we have been examined and allowed to preach, submitted to God, and trusted with His good news, we now proclaim His Word, not in a manner agreeable to mankind, but to God Himself who discerns our thoughts, feelings and hearts.
In the same way God approved Paul and his disciples to be entrusted with the gospel we too are trusted. God allows us to share His Word with the world. We could not do that on our own. His Holy Spirit inside us allows us to share the gospel not only with our voice but with our lives. The only gospel we can make certain is received is the acknowledgment of the changed Christian heart. Words can be ignored but our actions speak volumes. Not only speaking in a manner pleasing to God but walking in a manner worthy of His adopted child. The ways of God are not pleasing to man because they are contradictory to the flesh. God does not allow man to serve himself and the Kingdom at the same time. When the gospel finds agreement with fallenness of man, re-examine that gospel. Make certain it has not been diluted to find agreement. A tarnished gospel is not The Gospel. Oral tradition and compromise are not God’s truth. God’s Word requires that our hearts change and submit to His Truth and not our own. Believers must develop reverence for God and the gospel provided to us in Jesus.
Knowing God is a gift He bestows. Faith is the gift that makes that possible. Praise God that you were able to receive the gospel and that you can now reach the world with it. You were approved by God and entrusted with His message of salvation and reconciliation. You are called to share the new life found in Him with the world, not only in word but in action. God tests our hearts as we walk with Him. Let your worship and praise consist of showing His character to your sphere of influence. Allow the message you share to change you more and more each time you have the chance to proclaim the good news. Become more like Christ as you walk in His likeness living out the gospel. Find yourself examined and approved by the Father, empowered by His Spirit, and never affected by the rejection of a world that cannot receive a life they refuse to accept. Plant the seeds you are called to sew and let God grow the Kingdom He is pleased to call you into.
