The works of the devil have become commonplace today as the world drifts further away from God and into darkness. The presence of satan and his deception surround us, but it has become mainstream. The severity of what becomes of these deceptions is lost because people sensationalize the spirit realm. The devil presents a choice much as he did in the Garden of Eden to Eve. The choice is to submit to God, His love, His peace, and His adoption; or be a ruler in your own imagined control of your life. Th choice of being a child of the living God or become your own god. The serpent presented Eve with the illusion that she would become like God through the fruit of the tree of good and evil. Genesis 3:5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. This same deception is fully alive today as people seek to replace God themselves and believe that their understanding is greater than omniscient God.

Today this deception is shown through people’s fascination and involvement in the occult, witchcraft, astrology, voodoo, satan worship, etc. All of these practices and deceptions come with the illusion of power and control that serve the pride and self-righteousness of fallen man. The demons who support the illusions of these practices give dark hearts, lost in sin, a false sense of understanding and cooperation that gives false power. The delusional participants think that they are in some sort of control and that they hold the power. Why would the devil, who was cast out of Heaven for trying to take glory from God hand it away to the same humans he despised enough to retaliate against God? The deceiver will never give away the control he has on earth. His goal is to defy God and continue to turn His creation away from His Kingdom. The goal of the devil is to defy God and gain power over people, not hand it away. The deceiver’s plan to turn Adam and Eve against God in the garden is being replicated across history in the same way. People ignore God and have no idea they are falling for the same scheme. If people can identify the patterns in history, they can also identify the evil one behind them.

Many will try to ward off this evil by using other forms of deception. They look to mediums, rituals, crystals, etc to try and rid themselves of inconvenient evil. The deception is the continued reliance on evil to fight evil. They have been cleverly drawn into an evil cycle in ignorance. The only way to overcome evil and darkness is with its complete opposite, good and light. The source of all good and light is God and His son Jesus. The only way to drive away the devil is by calling upon his creator. James 2:19 tells us that the demons believe in God and shudder. There is good reason that the name of Jesus is the only name feared by these dark practices. All other faiths are the creation of the devil, so they have no power. There is nothing that other faiths present but more darkness. Yet the name of the Lord Jesus Christ drives away darkness, evil, demons, and all pretend power they offer. The name of Jesus is the source of ultimate power over darkness. His name is also the source of protection from evil. Although the deceptions of the devil have repeated his false power through time, the presence of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit have also been available since creation to overcome the illusions of the fallen demons. John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Be aware and reject the self-righteous illusions of satan. Reject the false power he offers to fool the lost into serving his fallen kingdom and following that kingdom into hell. Call on the name of Jesus to drive away darkness. Submit to the protection of God found in adoption into His Kingdom. Avoid the deception that causes a stir in your spirit. If you are approached with things that are not of God, decern the spirit behind them. God is not in a crystal, not in a statue, not in astrology, not in rituals, and not in potions. If you trust Jesus as your Savior, God’s Spirit writes His Word upon your heart, and your name is written in Heaven. Turn away and be cognizant of your enemy. If you belong to God, you are safe; but His enemy is your enemy. Defy evil in the name of Jesus!

Luke 4:41 And demons also came out of many, crying, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

Luke 4:31-36 And he (Jesus) was teaching them on the Sabbath, and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word possessed authority. And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,“Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm. And they were all amazed and said to one another, “What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

Luke 10:17-20 “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
