Chosen, Called, & Adopted

God is building His Kingdom of adopted children through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus was the first born of God’s children. He was a sinless vessel full of God’s Spirit. He lived a perfect life which was the reflection of what God desires from the many brothers of Christ, who follow in His footsteps in the pursuit of being conformed to the image of the Savior. Believers can look to Jesus and see how He lived in communication, reliance and submission to God the Father. We see Jesus in constant prayer, being guided by the Holy Spirit. When believers receive Jesus, not as a man but as their Lord and sacrifice for the sin that separated them from the perfect God, they too have the Spirit of God writing the Word of God on their hearts. The passage below shows God on His infinite wisdom knowing, setting apart, calling, forgiving and conforming His children to inherit a place in His Kingdom through adoption. An adoption sealed by the blood of the first-born, Jesus.

Romans 8:29-30 For those whom he foreknew (from the beginning) he also predestined (ordained-consecrate for a divine purpose) to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called (to faith through the Gospel), and those whom he called he also justified (declared right in God’s sight), and those whom he justified he also glorified (transformed into the likeness of Christ).

Foreknew- God knows what His Kingdom will look like and what pieces He desires to serve a purpose for His glory. From the moment of creation His children were named and every hair on their head accounted for.

Predestined- The divine purpose of each of His chosen is established and they are gifted for that mission. God knows each of His children and how they will grow His Kingdom as they grow in deeper relationship with the Father.

Called- The good news (Gospel) of Jesus calls each of His children out of the darkness of sin and to the light of the Father. If someone hears the message of Jesus, they can choose to become a child of God or reject His invitation and stay lost and hungry, never experiencing completeness in the Kingdom where they belong.

Justified-Accepting the sacrifice of Jesus and making Him Lord over their life brings them into right standing with the perfect God. They are purified by the blood of the lamb, Jesus Christ. Right in the eyes of God is adoption into His Kingdom and Family.

Glorified-The Christian Walk involves living in relationship with God through the Holy Spirit who leads the believer into the likeness of the sinless perfect child of God, Jesus. Over time the presence of the Spirit overrides the sinful flesh of the believer leading to deeper understanding of the purpose God has for each of His chosen.

John 17:20-24I do not ask for these (Apostles) only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word (all believers), that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory (value, worth) that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.

Hebrews 2:10-11 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. For he who sanctifies (set apart, make holy, dedicate to God) and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers…

God’s Kingdom is made up of His chosen. Called and ordained for a purpose known only to God until the Spirit reveals that purpose through submission to and acceptance of Jesus as Lord. If the good news has reached you, you have a calling. There is a decision for you that determines if you are adopted and justified or lost to your purpose in the eternal Kingdom. If you have encountered the message of the Bible, the love and grace of God is calling you. God knew you when He made this earth. Just like there is a missing place in the Kingdom for you to fill, there is a longing in every child of God that only He can fill. Allow His Son to be your Lord and His Spirit to fill the longing in your heart that has always left something to be desired. Take your place in the eternal Kingdom of God and be adopted by the perfect Father who chooses you.
